Q: We hope that Your Eminence will advise us on
the ruling on a woman applying henna or make-up on other women for beautification, women having their hair styled at a beauty salon
where there is a doorkeeper who prevents men from entering, or doing it at home when no one can see them, especially for brides on their wedding night. What is the Islamic ruling on working in this field? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with the best.
A:
It is not permissible for a woman to go out of her home to go to a beauty and hair-styling salon, as it may lead to Fitnah (temptation) and her showing her beauty outside her home. This is because she can do all that she needs to do in regard to beautification inside her home. (Part No. 17; Page No. 228) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
