Wiping over ordinary socks

Q 2: Wiping over the Khuffs (leather socks) is permissible according to the Sunnah. Is it also permissible for a person to wipe over ordinary socks that are not made of leather?

A: It is permissible to wipe over whatever covering is worn on the feet, whether leather or thick socks, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) wiped over both the leather and thick socks after wearing them in a state of complete Taharah (ritual purification). He (peace be upon him) ordered the Sahabah (Companions) to wipe over the Khuffs for a day and a night for a resident and three days and nights for a traveler.May Allah grant us success.
