Whether a traveler should offer Al-Sunan Al-Rawatib

A: A traveler who shortens the obligatory Salah (Prayer) is not to pray Al-Sunan Al-Rawatib. This is the recorded practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) for it is authentically reported on the authority of Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I accompanied the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on different journeys, and he did not add anything to these two (shortened) Rak`ahs (of Zhuhr Prayer) until Allah caused him to die... (Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) However, the Prophet (peace be upon him) kept on praying the Sunnah Ratibah of Fajr (Dawn) Prayer along with Witr (Prayer with an odd number of units) and Tahajjud (optional late night Prayer) even during his journeys.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
