Using newspapers in wrapping items or as a tablecloth

Q 3: What is the ruling on using newspapers as a tablecloth on the floor or for wrapping items then throwing them into the trash, bearing in mind that some pages may contain Ayahs (Qur'anic verses)? How to preserve the sanctity of the Ayahs printed in newspapers, which are circulated among people of different faiths?

A: It is not permissible to use newspapers in the manner mentioned or to dump them in the trash. (Part No. 4; Page No. 78) This constitutes desecration of the Ayahs, Hadiths, and the Names of Allah mentioned in newspapers. Any needed newspapers should be kept in a proper place, and any that are no longer needed should be burnt or buried in an area away from dirt and pathways.May Allah grant us success.
