Two men had a bet with each other

A: It is not permissible to receive money for sports competitions. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Competitions are allowed only in three (activities): Shooting arrows, camel racing or horse racing. Competitions in these three things are training for Jihad (fighting/striving in the Cause of Allah). These three things differ from sports competitions as they are not training for Jihad. Therefore, one is not permitted to receive compensation for it. The three things mentioned in the Hadith are camels, horses and arms. (Part No. 15; Page No. 174) May Allah grant us success.
