The sons of the brother-in-law as not Mahrams to their paternal uncle's wife

Q: My brother-in-law has sons who are about eighteen years of age. They have been living with us since they were very young. I regard them as my children. Is it permissible for me to (Part No. 17; Page No. 411) take off the Hijab (veil) in front of them? Please answer me, may Allah reward you with the best and reward you Paradise.

A: The fact that the sons of your brother-in-law have lived with you in your home till the age of eighteen is not a valid reason to take off the Hijab in their presence. Rather, you are obliged to observe Hijab when they are around, following the rules of Hijab which are applicable in such situations. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions.
