The real property that you determined to sell, such as houses or plots of land
Q: I have two houses and a piece of land. I use one of the two houses for living during some days of feasts and holidays while the other house is rented for 200 riyals a month and sometimes it may remain vacant. As for the piece of land, I bought it for 7000 riyals and if a client comes to buy any of these, I will sell them. Please, clarify the way of calculating Zakah (obligatory charity) due on them.

A 1:
The real property that you determined to sell, such as houses or plots of land, should be evaluated after the passage of a full Hawl (one lunar year calculated from the time a property reaches the minimum amount upon which Zakah is due) and the Zakah should be paid on it. As for the rent you collected, you should pay the Zakah due on it after the passage of a Hawl from the time the contract comes to effect.
