The Prophet saying to Abu Bakr: 'What did you leave for your family?'

Q 2: This question is about the Hadith related by Al-Tirmidhy and Abu Dawud which says that Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) gave all his money to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk. Thus the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked him: "What did you leave for your family?" Abu Bakr replied: "I left Allah and His Messenger for them." (Part No. 3; Page No. 239) To get straight to the point, there is an addition to the Hadith concerned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr, verily Allah is pleased with you. Are you pleased with Him?" He replied while dancing in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) out of ecstasyand joy: "How can I not be pleased with Allah?" The question is whether such addition is Sahih (authentic) and that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) really started to dance in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

A: The Hadith which is related by Abu Dawud and Al-Tirmidhy is Sahih. The same Hadith is also related by Al-Hakim in his Book Al-Mustadrak where he declares the Hadith concerned as Sahih. Such a view is supported by Al-Dhahaby. On the other hand, no origin is known for the addition which is mentioned in the question, and its Matn (text) is rejected and unacceptable.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
