The obligation not to be prejudiced towards one group against another
Q 2: I am a university student who lives in a vortex of beliefs and ideologies, and amid groups each claiming to be superior and doing its best to gain more supporters like:
Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimun Group;
Al-Tabligh (a group calling to Islam),
who enjoins its adherents to go out for 40 days or 4 months;
Ansar Al-Sunnah group;
and Al-Islah (Reform) group founded by
`Abdul-Hamid ibn Badis.
Therefore, I wish that you direct us to the right path which will lead us to happiness and will spare Islam all the effects of external currents which invade us while we are unaware. (Part No. 2; Page No. 237)
A:
You should abide by the truth attested to by valid evidence without bias to a particular group. However, the group worthier of being cooperated with is the one adhering to the true creed adhered to by the Imams of Salaf (righteous predecessors), committing themselves to act upon the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and abandoning all Bid‘ahs (innovations in religion) and superstitions.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
