The Hadith: 'Whenever the deeds of a people become corrupt, they decorate their Masjids'
Q 1: In the book entitled: “Iqtida’ Al-Sirat Al-Mustaqim li-Mukhalafat Ashab Al-Jahim (Following the Straight Path)” p. 296, there is a Hadith
which states:
“Whenever the deeds of a people become corrupt, they decorate their Masjids (mosques).”
What is the authenticity of this Hadith?
A:
This Hadith is related by
Ibn Majah on the authority of
Ibn ‘Umar who narrated it from the Prophet (peace be upon him). It is Da‘if (weak) Hadith, because its Sanad (chain of narrators) includes
Jubarah ibn Al-Mughallis, who was classed as a weak narrator.
