The Hadith: 'Souls are troops collected together'

Q 1: Would you please explain the following Hadith: Souls are (like) troops collected together... .

A: It was authentically reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Souls are (like) troops collected together. Those who become familiar will have affinity (with each other in this world), and those who clash will have differences (with each other in this world). (Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) In this Hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated that souls are created either to be harmonious or discordant, exactly like recruited troops who are confronted together. This is due to the ultimate destiny of souls, whether they will be among the blessed [in Paradise] or the wretched [in Hell]. The bodies in which the souls reside meet one another in this world and either get along together or do not, based on the similarities or differences of their created natures. Good and charitable souls will be inclined towards other good and charitable souls, and evil souls will be inclined towards other evil souls. Every party feels disinclined to those opposite to them. The author of "Al-Fath" quoted Al-Khattaby as saying: "This may refer to (Part No. 3; Page No. 199) their similarity as regards good and evil, or righteousness and corruption. Good people are inclined to their peers, while evil people are inclined to their peers. Souls feel affinity with others according to the nature in which they have been created, i.e. good or evil. Thus, if the natures of souls agree, they will get along, and if they clash, they will refuse one another."May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
