The difference between prophets and messengers

Q 1: What is the difference between prophets and messengers?

A: A Prophet is the one to whom Allah revealed Shar` (Law) but he was not commanded to convey it. A Messenger is the one to whom Allah revealed Shar` (Law) and Allah sent him to the people to call them to the Shari`ah (Islamic laws) and rulings revealed to him.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
