A: Slaughtering cows or sheep for the deceased after a certain period following their death is a Bid`ah (innovation in religion) that must be given up. It is prescribed to give Sadaqah (voluntary charity) on behalf of the dead at any time, by distributing meat or any other kind of food to the needy people.May Allah grant us success.
