Ruling on writing Ayahs on a paper and putting it in water then drinking it to facilitate memorizing Qur'an

Q 3: Some people of different nationalities in Al-Masjid Al-Nabawy (the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah) write down Ayahs (Qur'anic verses) on a paper, put it in water, and then drink it to facilitate memorizing Qur'an. They claim that this helps them to easily memorize the Qur'an; however, we do not know whether this is an act of Bid`ah (innovation in religion) or not? What is the Islamic ruling on this?

A 3: This act is an act of Bid`ah. It has neither been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him), nor from his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) according to our knowledge.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
