Ruling on eating food prepared on occasions and traditional festivals
Q: What
is the ruling on eating meals prepared especially for festivals, such as meals prepared for spring from semolina and dates?
A:
If such foods are not confined to certain festivals and Bid`ah-related occasions, and not in imitation of the Kafirs (disbelievers), rather they are just customs which usually involve presenting diversity of foods in the different seasons of the year, there will be nothing wrong with eating from such foods. The original rule in customs is permissibility. (Part No. 22; Page No. 271
