Religious commitment does not prevent earning a living
Q 1: According to the Qur’an and the Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet), what is obligatory to do on a young Muslim - who adheres to the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) and lets his beard grow long - to earn a living? Practicing Muslims who let their beards grow may be arrested and subjected to torture, and every time they apply for a job, they are rejected as people do not accept them with their beards. Please advise us and may Allah reward you with the best, but bear in mind the conditions that the Muslims are living under in
Egypt.

A:
Working in governmental jobs is not the only way to earn a living; there are many independent ways to do so. Try to be self-employed, and continue to adhere to your religion and avoid anything that may give rise to Fitnah (temptation) and troubles, seeking safety from both. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
