Paying the Ma'dhun for concluding a marriage

Q 2: People usually give Ma'dhuns (marriage registrars) a sum of money for concluding the marriage contracts. Is it permissible for the Ma'dhun to take this money? It should be noted that he may travel a long distance to contract the marriage.

A: If the Ma'dhun is not a governmental employee who receives a regular salary from the state in return for concluding the marriage contracts, it will be permissible for him to take this money in return for concluding the contracts. (Part No. 18; Page No. 107) However, if the Ma'dhun is a governmental employee, it will not be permissible for him to take this money even if he travels from the place of work to the place of concluding the contract. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
