Is there any basis in Shari‘ah for kissing the Mus-haf?

Q 12: I have noticed something that people do which I have never seen or heard about before, which is kissing the Mus-haf (copy of the Qur’an), in the same way that a kiss is given on the cheek in greeting.

A: As far as we know kissing the Qur’an is baseless in Shari‘ah (Islamic law).May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
