Is Tawaf-ul-Qudum a substitute for Tawaf-ul-Ifadah for a Qarin or a Mufrid pilgrim?

Q 9: Is it obligatory on a Qarin (pilgrim combining Hajj and `Umrah without a break in between) to perform Tawaf-ul-Ifadah (final obligatory circumambulation of the Ka`bah in Hajj) if they performed Tawaf-ul-Qudum (circumambulation of the Ka`bah on arrival in Makkah)?

A: Tawaf-ul-Qudum is not a substitute of Tawaf-ul-Ifadah for a Qarin pilgrim or Mufrid Hajj (performing Hajj only) because it is done at a different time. Moreover, it is a Rukn (integral pillar) and Hajj is incomplete without it. Its time is after standing at `Arafah and moving from Muzdalifah. As for Tawaf-ul-Qudum, it is an act of Sunnah (acts, sayings or approvals of the Prophet): it is the choice of the pilgrim to do it or not.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
