Insertion of a diagnostic instrument into the patient's vagina: Does this nullify Sawm?

Q: Should a woman perform Ghusl (full ritual bath) if she places her finger into her vagina while making Istinja' (cleansing the private parts with water after urination or defecation), applying ointment, (Part No. 5; Page No. 315) or inserting a pessary; or if a female doctor places her hand or a diagnostic instrument during medical examination? If this happens during the daytime in Ramadan, should she break her Sawm (Fast) and make up for it later?

A: All praise be to Allah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, and his family and Companions. In any of the above-mentioned cases, the woman does not have to perform Janabah Ghusl (full ritual bath to cleanse of sexual discharge) nor does it invalidate her Sawm.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
