Imamate of an illegitimate child

Q 6: Is it permissible for illegitimate children to assume the Imamate in Salah (Prayer)?

(Part No. 7; Page No. 388)  A: The basic ruling is that illegitimate children are equal to others regarding Imamate (leading people in prayer) because of the general meaning of the Saying of Allah (Exalted be He), Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwâ [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqûn (the pious)]. And the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him), The one who has memorized more Qur'an should lead people in Salah... The fault of his mother or that of the one who commits Zina (adultery) have no effect on him due to Allah's saying, ...and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
