If the Imam dies or breaks his

A: If the Imam passes wind during his Salah, he is permitted to make someone else succeed him to lead people in the remainder of the Salah. This way, his Salah and that of those led by him will be valid. This is supported by the story that after `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had been stabbed, he made `Abdul-Rahman ibn `Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) succeed him. The latter led people in the remainder of the Salah.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
