Q 2: I have a colleague
who worked as a revenue collector in a company
in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He takes (Part No. 15; Page No. 141) money from the company's revenues whenever he is in need of money for his personal purposes. He took a lot of money totaling over 50 thousand riyals. Having resigned from the company, he would not return the money to the company for fear that they would accuse him of robbery and he would be punished by imprisonment. He is in complete perplexity and does not know what to do; he may choose to repent to Allah and cover up his sin but still has to bear his remorse and self-punishment. Thus, he deeply regretted, performed sincere Tawbah (repentance to Allah), and swore before
the Honored Ka`bah
not to repeat this act whatever the conditions may be. What should he do now? How should he repay the money especially when his financial position is precarious? Should he give this amount in charity? Please, help me solve this problem, may Allah enlighten you!
A:
The sin this employee committed is one of the major sins, as he committed embezzlement and injustice. In addition to Tawbah and asking for Allah's forgiveness, he should repay the money by any means he can. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!
