I made a vow to observe Sawm (fasting)

Q 4: I made a vow to fast for two weeks or to fast for one week and give 100 Riyals away in charity if I did not give up the sinful habit of masturbation. I made this vow for the purpose of punishing and deterring myself from doing that awful sin which I did give up for quite a long period. Some time later, lustful thoughts started to strike my mind again and things ended up with me reverting to that bad habit.My question is: Is that considered a vow which I have to fulfill?

A: If the reality is as you mentioned, you must have either of the two choices fulfilled in order to absolve yourself of the vow. (Part No. 23; Page No. 284) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
