Hiring someone to recite Qur'an by the grave


A: It is not permissible to hire someone to recite Ayahs of the Qur'an by the grave of a dead person and to pray to Allah to credit its reward to the deceased. This was not done by the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor any of the Salaf (righteous predecessors). Moreover, none of the religious scholars of Islam is known to have either done or allowed this practice. No disagreement among scholars is known to have arisen over this issue.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
