Q 9:
Should Zakah (obligatory charity) be given to kinsmen and kinswomen, or Dhu Al-Arham (heirs connected through the female blood relatives) without naming it Zakah?
A:
If your kinsfolk or Dhu Al-Arham are of the deserving recipients of Zakah, and you do not have to support them, meaning that they are not your children and downwards, or your parents and upwards, it is permissible to give them what meets their needs from Zakah; rather, giving the whole Zakah to them is preferred because it will be counted as both charity and maintaining the ties of kinship. It is not necessary to inform them that you are giving them Zakah as long as you know that they deserve it.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!
