Giving the parents the price of cigarettes

Q 2: What is the ruling on smoking cigarettes? What do I have to do if one of my parents asks me to pay the cost of their cigarettes?

A: Smoking cigarettes is Haram (prohibited). Accordingly, if one of your parents asks you to pay for their cigarettes; you have to not do so and you are not considered sinful for this because of the Hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, No human being should be obeyed in matters involving disobedience to Allah. On the other hand, you have to advise your parents kindly to give up smoking and you have to tell them about its harm. Finally, you have to behave with your parents in the world kindly, and follow the Path of your Lord. (Part No. 22; Page No. 213) May Allah grant us success.
