Giving a translated version of the Noble Qur'an to non-Muslims

Q: Is it permissible to give a translated version of the Noble Qur'an to non-Muslims, especially that during our discussions they ask me to offer them a copy of the Qur'an to read? What are the effective methods that we should follow to call non-Muslims to Islam? (Part No. 11; Page No. 28

A: There is nothing wrong with giving a non-Muslim who is expected to convert to Islam the translations of the meanings of the Qur’an, because it is not permissible to give them Mus-hafs (copies of the Qur'an). The translations of the meanings of the Qur'an are considered Tafsir (explanation/exegesis of the meanings of the Qur'an) and not a Mus-haf. When calling non-Muslims to Islam, a person should explain to them its principles and show them its merits. They should be asked to embrace Islam, because Allah (Exalted be He) does not accept any religion other than Islam and this should be done in a kind and gentle manner, and by setting good examples for them, and by explaining the true principles of Islam through the deeds and opinions of Du`ah (callers to Islam).May Allah grant us success.
