Fondling a menstruating wife

Q 1: Is it permissible for the husband to have sexual relations with his wife during her menstruation without penetrating her vagina or anus?

A: It is Haram (prohibited) for a man to have sexual intercourse with his wife during her menstruation, but it is permissible for him to fondle her away from the vagina and anus. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do everything except intercourse." (Related by Muslim in his Sahih [authentic] Book of Hadith) In this case, it is Mustahab (desirable) for a man to order his wife to put on an Izar (garment worn below the waist) and he can fondle her above it. (Part No. 19; Page No. 279) `Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "During my menstruation, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to order me to put on an Izar and used to fondle me." (Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
