Ruling on Tarawih Prayer

A: Tarawih is an act of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It was done by his Companions. This act of worship was transmitted through the generations of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) and the Khalaf (those who came after the Salaf and followed their way). The first person to gather the Muslims after the Prophet's death to pray this Salah in congregation was `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who was one of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs. No one can deny this prayer but the heretical sects of Al-Rafidah. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
