Q 4:
Is it true that Salah (Prayer) of a Muslim who lets his clothes trail below the ankles is invalid? If so, what is the evidence?
(Part No. 24; Page No. 11
A:
The Salah of a Muslim who lowers and trails his clothes below the ankles is valid, but he is a sinner for committing Isbal (lengthening and trailing clothing below the ankles) whether inside or outside the Salah. As for the Hadith stating that Allah will not accept the Salah of a person who commits Isbal, it is Da`if (weak). It has been authentically narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
"Anyone who trails his garment during Salah out of arrogance will have no merit in the sight of Allah."
