A man accompanying his sister-in-law while traveling

Q 1: One of my relatives, my brother for example, asks me to accompany his wife to travel to her family who live in a remote village. The distance takes more than one day and night. The only alternative is that my father, who is ill and it is difficult for him to go with her, accompanies her on the journey because it is an urgent necessity. Since there is no escape from doing this, shall I obey my brother and father and travel with her or leave my father to travel with her instead of me? We appreciate your advice. May Allah reward you best.

A: A person is not a Mahram (an unmarriageable relative) for his brother's wife. She must not obey him or his father in allowing his brother to accompany her on her journey, whether to her family or elsewhere, because there is no obedience to a creature in defiance to the Creator. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
