Deducting taxes from Zakah
A: It is not permissible for a Muslim to pay the taxes due on their wealth from the Zakah they are obliged to pay on it. In fact, they have to pay the Zakah due on their wealth to the lawful recipients as determined by Allah in this Ayah (Qur'anic verse): As-Sadaqât (here it means Zakât) are only for the Fuqarâ’ (poor), and the Masâkin (needy) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
