Zakah on land

Q: I have a piece of land that I will take from the Real Estate Development Fund. I intend to sell it and buy another plot when possible. Must I pay Zakah (obligatory charity) on it


A: Zakah is due on the value of this piece of land after the passing of a full Hawl (one lunar year calculated from the time a property reaches the minimum amount upon which Zakah is due) from the time you intended to sell it, if it equals a Nisab (the minimum amount on which Zakah is due).May Allah grant us success. May Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and Companions.
