Falsely swearing not to know a certain thing since it is a secret

Q 1: A person entrusted me with a secret. Another person asked me about it but when I told him that I knew no secrets, he asked me to swear by Allah. Due to his insistence, I swore that I really knew nothing about it so that I would not disclose the secret. Is there anything due on me? What is the ruling on what I did?

A: It is not permissible for you to swear false oaths and you have committed a sin. You must make Tawbah (repentance to Allah) and seek Allah's Forgiveness.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
