Equity between wives in gifts and so on
A: If a man has more than one wife, he should observe equity between them with regard to supporting them, spending the nights with them, and providing them with houses. He is not permitted to favor one of them with a gift for no Shar`y (Islamically lawful) reason. In this way, (Part No. 19; Page No. 199) there is no harm to give a gift to the wife who helps him in his work. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, his family, and Companions.
