Eating in restaurants that serve intoxicants

Q 32: Is it permissible for a person to eat in restaurants where intoxicants are served?

A: If there are other restaurants to eat in, it is not permissible to eat in restaurants that serve intoxicants because this involves cooperation in sin and transgression. Allah (Exalted be He) (Part No. 22; Page No. 297) forbade all this. If there is no other restaurant, it is permissible to eat there because this is a necessity according to the Saying of Allah (Exalted be He): ...and He has not laid upon you in religion any hardship and His Saying: Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope. However, he must eat and drink only what Allah (Exalted be He) made lawful.
