Diyah for killing a Jew or a Christian

A: The Diyah of a Jew or a Christian is half the Diyah of a Muslim. It was related by Al-Nasa'y in his Sunan (book of Hadith) on the authority of `Amr ibn Shu`ayb from his father from his grandfather that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The Diyah of Dhimmys (protected non-Muslims living under Islamic rule) is half the Diyah of Muslims. The Dhimmys are (Part No. 21; Page No. 245) the Jews and the Christians. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
