Delaying Salah to finish work

A: A Muslim should hasten to offer Salah (Prayer) when its time is due. It is better to offer Salah at the beginning of its time with the exception of the Zhuhr Prayer when it is very hot. (Part No. 5; Page No. 89) In this case, it should be delayed until it gets cooler provided that it is offered in congregation. `Isha' (Night) Prayer can also be delayed, till the first third of the night, if it is not difficult for the Ma'mums (people being led by an Imam in Prayer). This is the tradition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Salaf (righteous predecessors). It is not permissible to say that Salah may be delayed to finish work. This is untrue, for Salah is the most important act of worship and this saying indicates that Salah is unimportant. When a person delays Salah, this might lead him to offer it individually when its due time is over. In both cases, this is negligence and a great sin.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
