Daughter mourning over her step-father with the mother

Q 3: Must an adult daughter mourn over her step father as her mother mourns her deceased husband?

A: She is not obliged to mourn over her step-father for the same period the mother observes. Rather, she must mourn over him for three days, as it was authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who stated: It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn any one who dies for more than three days, except for a husband, four months and ten days. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions.
