Celebrating the teacher's day

A: It is impermissible to hold innovated Festivals, to celebrate them, to participate in them, or to congratulate those who hold them as doing so involves helping them in sin and transgression. Moreover, Allah (Exalted be He) mentions that amongst the characteristics of the faithful slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) is that they: And those who do not bear witness to falsehood i.e. they do not attend Festivals of Kafirs (disbelievers), as stated in the Tafsir (explanation of the meanings of the Qur'an) of the concerned glorious Ayah (verse). The foregoing applies whether such Festivals are called so, or referred to as Days or Occasions, for names do not change facts. Besides, Muslims have only two Holy Festivals; `Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast) and `Eid-ul-Adha (the Festival of the Sacrifice). It is thus Wajib (obligatory) that Muslims abandon such Bid`ah (innovation in religion) and Festivals resembling those of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic time of ignorance), including The International Teacher's Day. May Allah help us all to act upon the Qur'an and Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him) and to abandon all types of Bid`ah.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
