A woman leaving one of her babies on the bed who fell off and died

Q: An inquirer says that she has children whom she kept in one of the rooms to clean the house. She left a six-month old baby sleeping on a bed and later found her dead after falling between the bed and the wall. She asks whether she has to make Kaffarah (expiation) for this or not. A: If the reality is as you have mentioned and there was no negligence on the part of the inquirer, there is nothing for her to do because the basic rule is acquittal. We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) to grant her a better compensation and reward her for her affliction.May Allah grant us success.
