A woman going out on a trip with male and female colleagues

Q: I live in Germany and I have a mature daughter. The school asked that she goes out on a trip with her male and female colleagues, where she will stay for a few days away from home without a Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative). What is the Islamic ruling on this issue? Please, substantiate your answer with evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah.

A: It is impermissible for a woman to go out as such as it entails free mixing of the two sexes and a woman traveling without a Mahram. Thus, it is obligatory on the father to prevent his daughter from going out as such in order to safeguard her against contingent evil consequences. May Allah grant us success.
