A woman abstaining from marriage after her husband's death
Q 5: Is it permissible for a young woman to abstain from getting married after the death of her first husband?
A: Islam urges people to get married. Therefore, her Waliy (a legally accountable person acting for a woman regarding marriage) should advise and urge her to get married. However, if she refuses and he is not afraid of her being subject to Fitnah (temptation), he should leave her. May Allah grant us success.
