A male doctor examining a female patient

Q 2: Regarding all branches of medicine other than gynecology, what are the conditions that have to be met for the permissibility of a Muslim woman to be (Part No. 17; Page No. 260) examined by a male Muslim physician?

A: The conditions are the unavailability of a competent female Muslim physician, that the male physician who checks the concerned woman is a Muslim who abides by his religious duties, and that such a visit is attended by one of her Mahrams (spouses or unmarriageable relatives). May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
